Snakes

Today’s nature calendar task:

Snakes will soon venture from their winter crevices.

We had an April snowstorm at the beginning of this week. I bet the snakes are thinking twice about whether or not they will come out.

We did see a chipmunk the other day. They could make a tasty post-hibernation snack for a large snake.

Frog's eggs

Today's nature calendar task:

Look for frog's eggs. Watch a few develop in a jar of pond water.

We are heading to a marsh for a nature walk today. We'll take a look for the frog's eggs. It seems like the snow and ice have just melted.

I found a fabulous website with detailed instructions on how to find and care for frog's eggs and the tadpoles they turn into. Click here.
